Sir James Lindsay of Bellstanes appears to have commanded the detachment at Berwick as a colonel.

In 1647 the new Model Army regiment was formed of 50 men from the Earl of Cassilis’ Regiment of Foot, 53 from Viscount Kenmure’s Regiment of Foot, 80 from Colonel William Stewart’s Regiment of Foot, 83 from James Elphinstone, Lord Coupar’s Regiment of Foot, 1 company from each of the Earl of Moray’s Highland Levies, Baillie's Regiment of Foot, Sir Alexander Hamilton’s, The General of Artillery’s Regiment of Foot and the Earl of Loudon’s Regiment of Foot.

The regiment was likely dressed in ubiquitous Scots hodden grey with blue bonnets.
