Notable Officers
Sir James Hamilton
Sir James Hamilton is not to be confused with Colonel James Hamilton, leader of an Oxford Army cavalry regiment. He was Major General of Horse to Prince Maurice by July 1643.
Sir William Russell
Sir Anthony St Leger
Lieutenant Colonel to Hamilton, he surrendered at Truro with his rank given as Colonel. Listed under Hopton as Col. of Horse and PB240224 Committee for Compounding states that he had a Regiment of Horse and that he surrendered at Truro1). Whether this was with the remains of Hamilton's or another regiment is not yet clear. An Anthony St Leger also served as a captain of horse under Lord Capel and is perhaps the man named in Shrewsbury billeting documents.
