Apparently Redman also led at least one troop of horse, see examination of his cornet below.
Flags
When King Charles drew out 250 garrison foot of Frescheville's and Wheatley's regiments in August 1645 Symonds noted the combined unit carried four blue and one red flag. As Wheatley's men seem to have been in the minority this implies they carried the red flag.

Examination of Richard Harby of Egremont Cumberland whose actual name is Rice Beaumont. Cornet under Command of Colonel Sir John Redman Governor of Pontefract Castle, then Marshall to him. Later Quartermaster to Sir William Huddleston of Millom Castle.
