The name of Corbett/Corbet is an ongoing issue. Modern usage and many contemporary writers have the name as Corbett, however extant documentation including Sir Vincent himself has the name with a single t.

A Sir John Corbet's foot was apparently in garrison at Bridgenorth in October 1645¹⁾ perahps an error for Sir Vincent's dragoons?

Because of Richard Gough's book, The Antiquities and Memoirs of Myddle we know of several soldiers who actually served in Corbet's.

Known as the Scoggan (post war) because he lived in the Scoggan Hole cave near Myddle ²⁾. Preece was a veteran, lame from his youth from falling from a fruit tree, he served on the continent before returning to England to serve. A man of remarkable character, he survived the war.

It is not certain that Hurlstone was a dragoon however the circumstances suggest strongly that he was. Born in Ercall Park, he was a game-keeper by profession and during the first siege of High Ercall shot a roundhead drummer from a distant tree. The drummer had climbed up to beat a challenge to the garrison and had done so several mornings before Hurlstone put a stop to it.
