Notable Officers
Sir James Ramsey
Ramsey commanded the left wing of horse at Edgehill, was court-martialled at St Albans but cleared, then was captured by The Royalists at Marlborough in December 1642. He was soon released and served with Essex on the 1st Newbury campaign.
Major William Balfour
Served as captain then major of Ramsey's horse then transferred to Sir William Balfour’s Regiment of Horse, his father's regiment, as a captain, later being promoted to major.
