A certificate of service for Captain John Gorge from Sir William Constable suggests that this unit was commanded first by Sir William Constable then by Sir William Fairfax before passing to Morgan.1). Morgan first served as a captain of dragoons until promoted to Major after Nantwich, and later to colonel.
