- Robert Halket authorised to raise a new regiment on the basis of his troop of Sir James Halket’s Regiment of Horse
- September: Battle of Dunbar
- September: Escape to Stirling
- September: Halket, Ker and Strachan sent to the Western Association
- At Kilmarnock, Halket commissioned Colonel of a Western association cavalry regiment, incorporating his previous troops
- December: Battle of Hamilton, defeated and dispersed by Lambert
