Perhaps a detachment of James Elphinstone, Lord Coupar’s Regiment of Foot mounted as dragoons, as there is no mention of the raising of this unit as a dragoon regiment. They are mentioned as returning 70 broken muskets on return from England, then served at Philiphaugh. In December 1645 the unit was reduced from seven companies to six, then two companies were added to each of Colonel Harie Barclay’s Regiment of Horse, The Earl of Eglinton’s Regiment of Horse and Lord Montgomerie’s Regiment of Horse.
