They appear to have been known as Prince Maurices Regiment of Dragons,see note 2.
Edgehill Movements of the Regiment in Berkshire in March 1642/3. later in the month they were in Wiltshire or Gloucestershire Harl. Ms. 6851 f. 133,146.
(1) Luke letter Book 20.2.1642/3 Microfilm narrative (2) (3) Major Gawdy was a Captain of Dragoons under Colonel Usher and received 2 shots in the thigh at Keinton.Because he was at Wantage,his Major made him a Major to a Regiment of Horse being raised in Suffolk.

Received these according to the direccione above written for Collonell Ushers Regiment One hundred waite of powder one hundred of match & Bullett proportionable Francis Moryson
He was at Cirencester (6) E.90.7 Master John Villiers brother to Lord Grandison and Captain of Dragoons captured at Cirencester and taken to Gloucester.
