Sir Lewis Pollard
Sir Samuel Rolle
Rolle swiftly replaced Pollard at the start of the Civil War
John Luttrell
Captain 25/09/42; Major 14/02/43 - 08/08/43 Then Colonel 02/06/44 - 01/12/44 (Luttrell's accounts clearly state that he became colonel of “ye sd regmt” i.e. that in which he had been captain and major. However in a letter he wrote after the retaking of Barnstaple he say he was commissioned to raise a volunteer regiment and that Colonel Rolle was calling in his old trayned regiment 1) It is possible that Rolle was too old for active command, he was in his mid-fifties and would die in 1647, and that Luttrell took over his command having failed to raise enough men himself.)
