Notes
Flags
Sir Edward's troop carried a cornet featuring the motto 'DEO ET CAESARI' on a scroll. Unfortunately no record has survived of its tincture. Sir Edward Widdrington in saying little implied much in his Colours, only thus DEO ET CAESARI1).
According to Blount: We may conclude that L. Col. Henry Constable had Constantine the Great in his thoughts: for his devise was thus, IN HOC SIGNO ✝ VINCES2).
