Just possibly black flags, if the regiment that Samuel Luke (the Parliamentarian scoutmaster) noted was Blagge's. Samuel Lukes Journal 20 or 22 June 1643 A Regiment of Foot with Black Colours marched out of Oxford yesterday to Wallingford BLAGGE ??

And forasmuch as he hath faithfully served us here:Wee are gratiously pleased to recommend him hereby to you for your countenance towards him, if he shall have occasion for it during his abode in Ireland. And so wee bid you heartily farewell. Given at our Court at Oxford the 4th day of November 1643.
