To Captaine Charles Dart
By vertue of a Commission from his Highnes Prince Maurice, Prince Palatine of the Rhyne and Generall of the West and for his Majesties service, I doe constitutu and appointe you to bee Captaine of the Foote Companie formerly belonged unto Captaine Reskymer Courtney in ye Regiment of Sir William Courtney, these are therefore in his Majesties name to will and require you diligently to execute and performe the dutie of a Captaine, and duely to exercise the said Company for the service of the King and Kingdome, accordinge to this Commission given you, commandinge all inferior officers, and souldiers of the said Companie to obey you as theire Captaine, and you likewise to obey and follow such orders and direccions as you shall from tyme to tyme receave from my selfe, and the superior officers of the said Regimente according to the Discipline of Warr, Given under my hand and seale this seaventeenth day of July Anno Dom. 1644 Ry Grenvile.
