The Humble petition of Coll Francis Wyndham Humbly sheweth,that your petitioner was in the City & Garrison of Oxford at the surrender thereof,as appeares by his passe under the hand and seal of Sir Thomas Fairfax. And therefore he humbly praies,that according to the Articles agreed upon the said surrender,he may be admitted to compound for his Estate.

(1) Camden 4th Series.Volume 17.Western Court Assize Orders f.99-100. John Norris of St. Decumans,gent.,was indicted at the last assizes for shooting Andrew Bryant with a pistol,but failed to appear and is now subject to process of outlawry.However,the court is informed that at the time of the murder Norris was captain of a foot company in the regiment of Colonel Francis Wyndham,governor of Dunster Castle,and thereby claims indemnity under the articles of Oxford.All process against him is therefore to stay until further order by the court.
His father petitioned for delinquency,being 70 years old and upwards for supplying hay to Dunster Castle upon a warrant from the Governor.
Petition of John Question of Dunster,Somerset. Received a Captains Commission for the Townsmen.
These are to certifie whom it may concerne that Mr John Question of Dunster in the County of Somersett did dress and cure many wounded souldiers belonging to the Regiment of Collon. Robert Blake in time of the siedge against Dunster Castle for which he hath received noe satisfaction.Wee the Officers of the said Regiment who have hereunto subscribed doe certifie it. Lt.Col. Samuel Perd,Ge.Colbourne,Alex.Kingsland,Nath.Blake,Thomas Alaines,Rich.Hinkes,Ben.Blake,Hen Bourlich,Thomas Bere. August the last 1649.
William Byam of East Luckham was one of five brothers who fought for Charles 1,four of whom were allegedly Captains.
