Athenae Oxonienses Richard Lovelace spent his estate “by furnishing his two brothers Colonel Francis Lovelace and Captain William Lovelace (afterwards slain at Carmarthen) with men and money for the Kings cause,and his other brother called Dudley Posthumus Lovelace with moneys for his maintenance in Holland to study Tacticks and fortification in that school of war.”
