A charge exhibited against Rowland Place of Dinsdale, Co. Durham That he did act as Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel Cuthbert Conyers. Robert Aiscough. Solicitor. Sargeant Major Pemberton was the Brother in Law of Lieutenant Colonel Place, having married Alice Place, sister of Rowland.

A charge exhibited against Michael Pemberton of Aslaby, Co. Durham That he did act as Maior to Colonel Conyers of Layton under the command of the Earle of Newcastle against the Parliament in the year 1643. Robert Aiscough
The answer of the said Mr Pemberton Michael Pemberton of Aslaby Esq. doth acknowledge he was Maior of Colonel Conyers Regiment of Layton under ye command of ye Earle of Newcastle in the yeare 1643. That he saith he came in within the time limited by the ordinance of Parliament and hoped that he should not have been further questioned. Captain Corbin.
