Coats and Flags
The survivors of Hollis's that formed the basis of the Regiment were dressed in red coats as were the original recruits raised to strengthen them (see Contemporary Documents below).
Carried six blue colours to the siege of Basing in June 1644 2). Six Companies of the skie colour Regiment of Colonell Morrels (sic) at Dorchester May 1645 3)
The Gray Coates of Col. Morleyes, and Col. Leytons are put in Col. Pickerings and Col. Wallers Regiments. (E293.23) The Moderate Intelligencer Thursday July 17th-Thursday July 25th 1645.
