- June: Formed from Strachan's troop of Colonel Gilbert Kerr’s Regiment of Horse
- July: The Ministers of Scotland contribute to raising the regiment
- July: Skirmish at Musselburgh
- August: Skirmish at Gogar
- 3rd September: Battle of Dunbar (right flank)
- September: Retire to Stirling
- October: Serving in Western Association army alongside Kerr
- December: Battle of Hamilton; Lt Col Ralston leads detachment of about 100 horse
- December: Rally at Kyle
