Flags, Coats and Equipment
Raised as a Covenanter militia regiment to defend Perthshire from the Royalists, they may have been un-uniformed or dressed in the typical Scots hodden grey. At Tippermuir Kilpont commanded the bowmen of Montrose's force, probably including those from his own regiment. There is some controversy as to whether Kilpont's were armed entirely with bows, a mixture of weapons, or more conventionally with pike and muskets.
