Colonel Sir William Williams to Major Griffith, and in his absence to Captain William Morris. Is troubled no less than Griffith and the rest that Griffith went as he did. If the writer knew how to remedy it he would do so. Is sorry that Griffiths endeavours to please him should bring nothing so much inconvenience, and thanks him. Has Sir John Owens letter to Major General Lord Ashley (Sir Jacob Astley) and another to Major Hookes, the first sealed, the second unsealed; Griffith may seal it after perusual. Will be glad if they do Griffith any good. Will pray for the safe return of Griffith and the others. Has received a letter from W Morris bt Tho Evans, for which he gives thanks: sends his commendations to Moris, J. Wynne and R. Lloyd. All Griffiths friends are well.
Subscribed: Will follow any directions sent by him, and will send by the bearer two twenty-shilling pieces for Griffith and the others mentioned.
