The Kent Trained Bands of 1638 consisted of 4,667 men armed with 2,910 muskets and 1,757 corslets (body armour, signifying pikemen). They also mustered 293 horse.
In March 1640 it was ordered that Trained Band men should be shipped to Newcastle for service against the Scots: Kent 700. To be shipt the fourth of June at Gravesend, to be at the General Rendezvouz the twenty third of May, to march thence the third of June.3).
In August 1651 a unit of Kentish dragoons under Colonel Twistleton was ordered to rendezvous at Oxford.

29th July 1643 Hercules Holliland was appointed Sargeant Major General of the Trained Bands in Kent JESS21st 061 + 2
