Glamorgan Trained Band supporting the Royalists
Killed at 1st Newbury
Sir Anthony's stepson and heir Bussy Mansell raised forces for the King in 1643 and 1644, perhaps succeeding his stepfather as colonel of the Trained Band. In 1645 he attached himself briefly to the Glamorgan 'Peaceable Army' of clubmen then defected to the Parliamentarians. Remaining loyal to Parliament throughout the 1650s, he led 100 men in 1646 and in 1655 was nominated as a Colonel of militia.
