Dorset Trained Band mentioned as supporting Hertford’s Royalists at Sherborne in 1642
Colour captured 0418 English Emblematic Tradition Foot Colour.
One Colour is known, White, top left a Cloud with an eye looking out and two mottoes in swirling banners. “Sume put ther trusst in Charetes and som in horses but we will rember the nam of the Lord our God”. Below is the second motto ” Our Fathers hoped in thee thaye trusted in thee and yu didsst deleuor them” Beside the Cloud top left is a shield with the Arms of Rogers and bottom left a green leaf.
Rogers took the Covenant and joined the Parliamentarians.
