Sir Charles Coote (senior) was one of the Protestant leaders at the start of the Irish revolt. He was killed in a skirmish at Trim on the 7th of May 1642. His son, Sir Charles Coote, 2nd Baronet, also fought in the Confederate Wars and led Protestant and Parliamentarian forces in Ulster.
Michael Jones served as Major to the regiment under Kildare but defected to the Parliamentarians after the Cessation of 1643.
